In February, I had the pleasure of attending a Mikey's Fest in Greenville, SC. I say pleasure because I got more out of the experience than I could have ever given. Mikey's Fests are a coming together of carpet cleaning companies from all over the US. We came together for fellowship and to give back by cleaning a Ronald McDonald house. The amount of work that goes on in one day is mind blowing; as well, as inspiring. The families using these facilities are staying because they have a sick child in the hospital nearby. They stay in the facility rent free while their loved one gets the treatment they need. The families are responsible for maintaining the rooms while they are a guest. We just give the facility a cleaning from top to bottom including each of the bedrooms. These Ronald McDonald houses run on donations and volunteers. If you want to help a good cause, consider a donation to your local Ronald McDonald House or at www.rmhc.org/.
I met business owners, who are amazing people, that took time out of their week to pitch in and make a difference. Many of them are owner operators who are putting their businesses on hold for a few days to give back to a community they often are not even a part of. I would like to thank Mike Pailliotet for starting this event. The 'brotherhood of cleaners' is what I'm calling this. With my participation, I became part of this brotherhood and as a result my life and business will never be the same. I will definitely go back to participate again and may even consider being a speaker.
Born and raised in Rock Hill, family man, supporter of my community and I have a passion for helping people.
